Next week, the Plaza is set to launch an exclusive gallery that will display a wide range of sports memorabilia, previously housed in the now-defunct Las Vegas Club. This new attraction promises to captivate sports enthusiasts and collectors alike.
The gallery’s grand opening is scheduled for Tuesday evening, where visitors will have the opportunity to purchase from a vast selection of items. Conveniently situated just off the casino floor, the gallery aims to attract both casual visitors and dedicated collectors.
Earlier in August, the Plaza’s parent company, Tamares Group, finalized the sale of the Las Vegas Club to the owners of the D Las Vegas and the Golden Gate. This transaction led to the closure of the Las Vegas Club, a venue celebrated for its sports-centric theme, as the new proprietors consider future plans for the site.
The collection available for purchase includes notable pieces such as a Michael Jordan-signed North Carolina Tar Heels basketball jersey and a series of autographed bats from World Series games between 1946 and 1958, as highlighted in the Plaza’s announcement.
“We at the Plaza are proud to celebrate Las Vegas’s storied past and are thrilled to offer this remarkable collection of sports memorabilia to the public,” expressed Jonathan Jossel, Chief Executive of the Plaza, in the announcement.
In a gesture of goodwill, the Plaza has pledged to donate 10 percent of each sale to the UNLV Libraries Special Collections. The gallery will be open to visitors daily from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m., providing ample opportunity for exploration and purchase.
Items in the gallery will be priced starting at $25, making them accessible to a wide range of collectors.
The opening event on Tuesday will commence at 7 p.m., featuring a special drawing where attendees can win a piece from the gallery’s collection.
